FIVE wagons to choose from!

A combination of circumstances and the opportunity raised by meeting and working with Enda Byrne of CK Prints, means that we can now offer some of our famous kits as ready run wagons.

Realising that most modellers like to choose their own couplings, these wagons will be sold painted, lettered, but without couplings (we can supply our previous “Dapol Tension Lock” couplings at cost – just ask!

To start the ball rolling, our GNR 6 Ton Cattle wagon, as built around the early 1900s to Diagram 20, but as they were after the side planking was changed in the 1930s. Cattle traffic was good business for the GNR, most cattle were exported via Belfast. We offer about ten different numbers, so a rake with “real” numbers is possible.

This is the wagon, fully lettered.

We have also produced the Sligo Leitrim and Northern Counties cattle wagon. I think that these are fairly similar vintage and were often seen running with the GNR wagons on livestock trains originating from the SLNCR. I think that they have a nice archaic look about them?

Finally, in this “GNR” trio we have a 9 ton covered van. Built to Diagram No.10 from 1941 onwards, they re-used parts from earlier 8 ton vans.

Over 650 were built. We can offer about ten numbers which were chosen so that a dab of grey changed its number to an equally valid number. I can provide the full list to buyers.

Former GNR Bagged Cement vans

Two different versions are available. A GNR-liveried wagon and one in CIE all-over bauxite livery with a plain white “Broken Wheel” symbol. These vans were built in 1954 – 6 for carrying cement in bags from the cement factory at Drogheda. They were later used as simple vans for general traffic.
